INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4.0:

Exit all other programs, applications and screensavers before installing.

When installing 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4.0 you'll be given a choice of proceeding with a minimal install or a full install.

* Choosing the minimal install option will require you to run the program from the CD-ROM if you want to view the Sample Plans. If you attempt to access the Sample Plans without the CD, you will be prompted to insert the CD.

* Choosing the full install option will take up more space on your hard drive but will allow you to run the program without the CD-ROM. If you have adequate hard drive space, we recommend the full install option to maximize the speed and performance of the program.

1. To Install:

* Begin at the Windows desktop.
* Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
* The 3D Home Architect start up window will appear.
* Click the install button and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If the 3D Home Architect startup window does not appear automatically, follow these steps to install the program manually:

* Click the start button on the taskbar and choose Run.
* Type D:SETUP.EXE in the line labeled Open. If your CD-ROM drive uses a letter other than D, substitute that letter for D.
* Click OK and follow the on-screen instructions.

2. To Start:

After successfully installing the program, click the "Run 3D Home Architect 4.0" button at the startup window to start the program.

The startup window will usually appear each time the CD-ROM is inserted
into the CD-ROM drive.

If the 3D Home Architect startup window does not appear automatically on screen:

* Begin at the Windows desktop.
* Click the Start button, point to Programs, and then to Broderbund, and then to 3D Home Architect 4.0.

KNOWN PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS:

1. Systems with 16MB or less of Video RAM may have trouble
   displaying the Applied Materials view.

2. Cyrix CPU Chipset

If your computer contains a Cyrix chipset, the software may
detect that the system is below the applications minimum hardware requirements. When this message appears click OK to continue installing the application. Once installed the application runs correctly.

3. If you are having trouble with rendering, updating to the most recent drivers for your video card may alleviate the problem.

4. If you experience difficulties with the House Wizard, rebooting your computer will re-engage the 3D Home Architect drivers. This will alleviate the problem.

5. Objects (furniture, fixtures) that are placed into the Sample Plans may not be able to be resized. To correct this, choose Options | Defaults Setup | Plan Defaults and make sure the "Fixtures and Furniture May Be Resized" option is On (checked).
